Cotabato City – Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’s public works department (DPWH-ARMM) signed yesterday P683.7 million worth of projects slated to help propel the region’s economic growth.
Eight (8) road concreting projects that will provide connectivity of farms to markets, expose hinterlands and access to tourism sites, were awarded to different contractors.
DPWH-ARMM Secretary Don Mustapha Loong led the signing with the contractors.
Among the projects is the concreting of sections of the Tawi-Tawi circumferential road which will connect the province’s mainland municipalities once completed and cut long travel hours by launches to few hours by road.
CB Garay Philwide Builders will implement the concreting of Thumbhill-Masantok road in Panglima Sugala, Tawi-Tawi, spanning 4 kilometers worth P92.8 milllion. CB Garay Philwide Builders will also implement through a joint venture with Hervelyn Intertrading and Builders Corp, the concreting of the Karaha-Dungon 4 km road, worth P93 million, also in Panglima Sugala.
In Languyan town of Tawi-Tawi, Hexamindz Corporation will implement the concreting of the 4 kilometer Bakung-Maraning road and the 3 kilometer Basnunuk – Tubig Dakula – Jakarta roads worth P92.9 million and P69.8 million, respectively.
Masulot Construction and Must Enterprises on the other hand will implement the concreting of Marang-Marang –Bakung road, 4 kilometers worth P92.8 million; and the concreting of Rotonda-Sikulis-Basnunuk road, 3 kilometers worth P69.6 million, respectively.
From 2012 to 2016, DPWH-ARMM has paved more than 42 kilometers of the 139.4 kilometer Tawi-Tawi circumferential road.
Meanwhile, in Maguindanao, St. Gerard Construction was awarded the Construction of Bagumbayan-Langeban Bridge Project in Kabuntalan town, amounting to more than P101.4 million, while Must Enterprises in a joint venture with Pate-Khay Construction was awarded the Concreting of Bangun Dilausan-Linao Road Project in Lanao del Sur.
Loong has reminded the contractors to be prompt on their reports and to coordinate closely with the local government units and the district engineering offices (DEOs) as they start their projects.
Aside from these projects, “being the department assigned to the giant task of accelerating the socio-economic condition of the region through infra development,” the agency is set to bid-out more P10 B worth of infra projects this year said Loong, with more than P1.6 billion worth of projects to be bided out by the regional office while the remaining will be bided out by the DEOs of DPWH-ARMM.
