BONGAO, Tawi-Tawi — The Department of Public Works and Highways of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DPWH-ARMM) is undertaking massive infrastructure and infrastructure support projects in this province all of which are aimed at boosting the province’s economy.
Tawi-Tawi DPWH-ARMM District Engr. Bensoud A. Ajihil said such projects being implemented by the DPWH here is financed by the national government, ARMM and the provincial government here.
He also said most of the projects are concreting of new roads, repair of dilapidated roads, farm to market roads, fish landing, foot bridges, day care centers and health centers.
OIC Gov. Mujib Hataman has also directed the DPWH-ARMM to infuse more funds to this province to help fund the on-going regional impact projects (RIP), Ajihil said.
He added that the Tawi-Tawi is now loaded with infrastructure projects after Sahali aired his observation with President Benigno C. Aquino lll that the province has been left behind in terms of infrastructure and infrastructure support development.
President Aquino has responded to Sahali’s clamor and has ordered the DPWH to fund a P300-million Potable Water System project and other vital infra projects initiated by Sahali for the people here.
Sahali and Hataman Thursday last week led national and provincial government officials in the groundbreaking of the R300-million Tawi-Tawi potable water system project .
Included in that project is the development of the Malum river, the source of potable water, located at sitio Malum in Barangay Magsaggaw in Panglima Sugala town about six kilometers from the town’s commercial center.
Construction of a reservoir, transmission and distribution lines and piping will take a year to complete, Ajihil said
